Opinions on these two CamelBaks?

Hey guys, been looking for a hydration pack with some storage.  I like the Lobo and Chaos. What's the opinion on these 2 packs? I looked at the Mule, sucker is huge. That's for like a 3 day camp out lol.  The lobo carries 100 oz & 200 Cubic inches of cargo.  the Chaos carries 70 oz & 580 Cubic inches of cargo.  Both are about the same price.  I checked the MTBR reviews and both seem well liked.

Get one with a 100oz bladder.  You'll thank me later.  8)

Although you may think the cubic inch storage of the Lobo is a lot, it runs out quick when you carry things you may need on the trail.
Ibis Mojo SL-23.81 lbs.
Ibis Tranny-20.75 lbs.

Go with what TTT said...you'll appreciate the extra 30oz's.

www.chainlove.com has had some similar Dakine packs up recently for good prices.

I have an 11 year old Blowfish and the thing has been bombproof. Cant speak for other types and brands but I will go with a similar Camelback when the time comes.......

MULE may look huge, but when the bladder is 100% full it loses quite a bit of storage capacity in the main pouch.  You may run into the same issues with the smaller Camelbaks...something to take into consideration if you plan on throwing in a few tools, tubes, food, keys, etc.

One other positive about the MULE when it's full of water and tools, etc--it softens the impact when you hit the ground on your back.  ;D

I want to carry a pump, tube and some wrenches, power bars and my wallet & keys. Dam it. You guys know to much lol. I'll give the mule another look.  Thanks to the swamp membership discount at some local shops it makes it competitive with online shopping.

+1 To what Alan said, and for better or worse to what TripleT had to offer. Endo not so bad-o with my Mule. I thought the thing was gonna be too big as well, but comes in real handy, especially out at Boyette where you do not come back and visit your car or truck during the ride. Absolutely get one with a 3 liter bladder no matter what, especially right now as it is Africa hot. I'm a pretty small guy and the Mule does not feel big at all. Other than my bike, best purchase I have made since becoming addicted to this sport.

Good deal guys. I have a lot of tools for bikes (Park tools from the mid-late 90's) and a spare tube, but I need an air pump.  Always something. We'll see how much room is left in the Mule.

Mules are great for shorter rides (couple of hours) & have room for repair tools, etc., but not a whole lot more.  On club rides this time of year I drain 100 ounces and a couple of water bottles, too.  I got a RimRunner at Xmas for the additional storage capacity - for a jacket, a couple of bottles, food for longer rides, etc.  If I did it all over again I'd probably get something else.  The storage compartment is just one big area - so everything just sinks to the bottom of the pack & rides too low on the back.

Love my mule But I find that when bladder is full I do lose a lot of space. And in the summer you will need 100 +oz and a couple of large water bottles. No water stops @ croom.

I had the classic with no storage first - it was only 70 oz and no storage and it was and is useless. then i got the hawg - too big!  then the lobo - too small - both in storage.  now for the water capacity - in no way should you get the 70 oz. the 100 oz is mandatory! unless you have no idea of how to keep yourself from bonking, and want to hate riding places like croom (the desert), then go with 70oz. the mule NV is the unit you need to look at - if you are serious abou riding and serious about your comfort and staying dry and cool - the nv has a super ventilated back - moreso than the regular mule. the lobo does not have the storage capacity any serious rider needs/ all the previous post are correct that the mule is what you need. get the nv.

Hi all !  I have recently bought a mule and love it . It seems big at first but once you put stuff in there it gets small fast . The way I look at it if you dont a lot of stuff in the pack it is hardly a few ounces heavier than the smaller ones . But when you the space it is there .

I didn't even think about that.  I was thinking more along the lines of- if you use one of these things, hope you don't have a gag reflex, in case it's jammed in the back of your throat while you're trying to drink.  :D
