I got bit by a tick on last nights ride :(
« on: August 12, 2009, 10:04:54 AM »
A couple hours after i got home, got out of the shower, looked down, bam, tick on my leg. W/ out thinking I yanked it off   :-[

I have the tick still, Im going to the doctor at 4, Im guessing they are going to send it off to test it? The only time I can think of when it would have jumped on me was when I peed in the bushes

Just wanted to pass on the info, and hear back if this has happend to others and find out what was the outcome, thanks :)

yeah theyre out there. Had one on my ear from a ride at boyette. Found him the next morning :o .
Also picked one up from Croom dug into my knee. It took some prying to get him off of me.
gotta start checking after every ride now.

For a while there it seemed like I was picking one a week up at either Boyette or Wilderness....I had one crawling on me on Sunday...This time I caught it before it found a comfy spot.

I burn them off with a lighter before pulling them out.  J/K...  I wouldn't visit the DR just because I got my first tick.  But if is going to give you peace of mind, go for it.  I have pluck mine out and never really paid too much attention to it.  I would visit a dr if I see the byte mark or I start to get early symptoms as described on the wikipage link above.  Good luck.

Dude,if your going to ride off road you are going to get your fair share of ticks. Pull it off and move on, save your deductible for snakes and gators :)

I got one in Boyette a long time ago. I stuck him inside my brake caliper and sliced him in half with the rotor.... I am not twisted.  8)

Who is the red head?  Nevermind, she is probably 30-40 years older now if she is even alive.   :o
