29er Tires
« on: August 14, 2009, 04:39:35 PM »
What you got? Anyone running some fatties around here? I have some 2.1 Ignitors but wondering when they wear out if some 2.25 or larger would be beneficial. What size 29er tires are you guys running?
wherever you go.....there you are.

I ran Rampages for about two years front and back.  The traction and float were great.  The weight and rolling resistance was not.  I am now running Ignitors front and back, and love the lower rolling resistance.  I don't feel like I am giving up much in the way of traction, but the extra soft ride of the Rampages is missed, but not enough to go back.  Also, careful what you run in the wet vs. dry.  Small blocks are great in dry climates, but pack up very easy in the mud.  Good luck.

Rampages are 2.35 and are LARGE.  Unlike most tires they are what they say.  They weigh about 750 grams each.

Dan-o I asked the same question in a thread called "what 29er tires for our trails?" you may want to check out. I am experimenting now with Kenda Nevgal 2.2 in front and Ignitor 2.1 in back. The Nevgal feels super heavy and not too sure I like it. (the weight that is)
I run "The Captain" 2.0 by specialized in the dry and like them a lot. They are fast and light.
