Sette Element Shoes w/ Time Atac Alium Pedals
« on: August 17, 2009, 09:18:22 AM »
Thoughts on this combination for my first shoes and clips?

http://www.pricepoint.com/detail/13531-285_SET644_KIT-3-Parts-65-Pedals/Sette-Element-Shoes-w/-Time-Atac-Alium-Pedals.htm

Very slim budget. Need something practical for this muddy/clay environment for Boyette and Alafia mainly. Have heard good things about the Times, but really wondering about the shoes.

Thanks - any and all input is appreciated.

my experience is that every shoe company sizes a little different - it will be worth a little extra $ to get shoes from a LBS to make sure they fit.  Nothing ruins a ride more than ill fitting shoes.

Agreed! but his other option would be to try out the shoes he liked at the LBS and try to find them on Ebay.

Now that I know that I like Specialized shoes, I can order them from anywhere and know they will fit.

I have had those same pedals for close to two years. They have held up pretty well so far and do pretty well with mud/clay. No idea about the shoes, but you should try some on for size. My Shimano sizing is way different than any other shoe in my closet and I would not have known that if I did't try on a few different sizes.

Times= Buy,try,love for years.

I have some of those shoes ( new not yet used) that if you wear a size 45 you can try on for fit before ordering. Tell me what size you think you need and I'll check mine to see what they are.

I bought that exact combo about a year ago. Love the pedals but those shoes hurt my feet. they were too narrow for my foot. I have the Euro size 45 shoe if that's your size you can try them out and if you like them you can have them and just buy the pedals.

I wouldn't buy shoes on line! My ride buddy and I both have sixe 45 specialized shoes. And I can't even get his on my feet. So just because you get fitted at the bike shop, dosen't mean you on line purchase will fit. Get the deal on the peddals, on line; but support your local shop with the shoes. ;)
