Best bottom bracket?

I am looking at replacing my bottom bracket and may just replace the whole drivetrain. question is, what to buy? it has a Truvativ GigaPipe SL ISIS now.

The easiest and cheapest option would be to replace it with another Tuvativ SL, verify the width as they come in a few sizes. A new Shimano XT crank would be a sweet upgrade for around $200. The XT comes with the external integrated bearing cups.

+1 on the XT Crankset and bottom bracket.   However the CK is super blingy and would last forever.

I have an XTR BB I am not using because I have a CK if you want to buy it

His current crank is an ISIS, so to use an integrated cup like a king or XT/XTR he would have to buy a new crankset. The Shimano cranks come with the external bearing cups and are VERY durable.

ah - get some xt cranks and the BB that comes with them are great

Get the SKF ISIS and don't worry.   Chris King ISIS?  I know they were part of the design team but I don't think they ever came out with a product.

since I only paid $600 for the whole bike, spending $500 for a crankset does not make much sense. I am looking for a quality product that will last awhile and not make me wish I just bought another bike... is this a "Good" quality product of the money?

Darrin, since you're a big guy I'd avoid any crank with hollow arms. I broke a hollow arm crank myself at 185lbs. The Race Face pictured look solid to me. +1 on going with the external bearing set up but it is true you should have a higher end bike to justify CK bling. You'll need a different tool to install the external bearings by the way. Make sure you get the same length crank arm as well.

I went thru 2 sets of race face bearings in 1 month, Do a little research on this matter as it is well documented. There is nothing wrong with an ISIS BB, if I were in your shoes I would replace your BB with another ISIS style BB which can be purchased for under $40 :)

I also agree with scott. If it was me, I'd just change out the BB with same ol ISIS. I run that set up on my XC bike without issue and the previous XTR external BB gave me issues after wet rides.
