I use a seca 700 race - but my tail kight opened up a new company to me and also Rob Roberts uses this brand
http://www.dinottelighting.com/

they are very good and you can get extra batteries etc.

you can call the guy up and he will help you out with selection and talk you through the purchase...they work really well

the dinotte lights are pretty nice. i have the 135 lumen model that uses regular AA batteries. works well and the batteries can be had at any store --see the advantage with that?? that same light can come with a Li-ion that will burn longer - but when it's dead on the trail - it's dead.

i will also be using a $14 walmart headlamp that runs on AAA. that has claimed 90 lumens and will be primary on the road sections at night. The denotte will be switched on in the single track to supplement.

I've had one of these for two years, started with the spot and changed to the flood. This guy provides unbelieveable customer service.

Very, very small, but bright light.

The Light & Motion Stella 200's are very nice, moderate price, long burn time of 5 hours on High.

I'll have to double check, but I think I have a Nightrider Tri-newt. It wasn't cheap, but I have been very happy with it.

I have the dinotte 200's that use the rechargeable batteries.  Great lights, In my adventure racing I have actually had a team in front of me move over because they thought we were a car.  (My teammate was using one also)

Does anyone use do-it-yourself lighting?  Something along the lines of this?

i've built several light sets over the years.  some are 100% from scratch and others are partial do-it-your-self projects.

in the end, i've had better luck with "name brand" products over my own.... that may just say more about me than them though   :(

Hi all!    MTBR has a great DIY thread for light building . Those lights from the link above have great reviews and Scar has great service . That said , I use a mi-newt dual and a stella 200 and they work great . Wouldnt mind having a couple hundred more lumens though .

Hi all!    MTBR has a great DIY thread for light building

I've briefly browsed through the thread on MTBR.  Was just curious if anyone on this forum had done it before.
