I want to thank everyone for their well wishes for me regarding my injury. I went to the orthopedic surgeon today and recieved pretty good news.
As it turns out the doctor installed about a 14 inch titanium rod right through the center of my left tibia, my fibula is healing all on its own. He removed all of the wrapping that was on my leg, and removed the staples and stitches. I have been given a brace to wear when I am going to be active. He told me that as soon as I felt up to it, I could get on my bike, as long as I promised not to go off road until my next appointment which is 2/28. I have ordered some BMX style pedals as it would not be very good for me to be clipping in and out.
He told me that I would be able to ride in the Squiggy. I will probably not be very competitive, but I should be able to complete on full lap!
This of course is not what my original goal was for Sguiggy, but I am actually pretty thrilled. We may need to change our team name from "Two fat guys and one older guy" to maybe "One not so fat guy, one older guy,and one recently recovered gimpy one legged fat guy"
I was pretty excited so I wanted to share!
