LOST Garmin Edge 705 GPS/Bike computer at Boyette parking lot
« on: September 13, 2009, 03:49:08 PM »
I am still looking for it in my house, but I may have left it on the bumper of my SUV after a ride at Boyette.  That was Thursday evening 9/10.  I am offering a reward to anyone who may have found it.  Please call me at 813-503-6336.

It is a black Garmin Edge 705 with minor scratches on the display.  The serial number is #192043586.  If the SN# sticker in the back has been removed, the SN is saved in the device.  Thank you for any info.

The device looks like this one:

This reminds me on the formula 1 team that a sponsor mounted a $100,000 dollar diamond on the front nose cone and couldnt find it after a crash.
That thing looks expensive. I believe people who find things like that and keep it suffer from bad karma and down the road they will lose something more in value and when it happens they will remember " man I should have gave it back".

FOUND!!!

With a few more bumps and scratches.  I will soon list for sale on e-Bay.  Any takers?

After a more careful search of the Boyette parking lot and the road near it, I found my GPS.  Why couldn't I forget my stinky jersey, gloves, helmet, water bottle, cell phone, or front tire?  Nooooooooo, I forget my GPS on the bumper of my SUV after a ride.  Haven't we all done this?

I can hear the jokes now so let me hear them so I can laugh at this a bit more.  Maybe I'll forget how much I paid for it and I'll stop kicking myself.  Maybe, I won't do this again.

Here is a pic in case you want to buy it.  Maybe you have an old bike computer (less then $10) you would like to donate to me?  :-( ... * Boooooo Hoooooo! Waaaaaa! Sniff, Sniff Sniff!...

That was the Jaguar F1 team that was promoting something at the Monaco Gran Prix several years ago.  Funny stuff.

I didn't have my 705 mount tightened enough on the road bike and the downhill that gets really rough after college hill shook my bike so much that the GPS was upside down by the time I got to the bottom...I thought I had lost it.

Put the Garmin back together as best as possible, e-mail garmin that it is 'just shutting off randomly', they give you an RMA number, send it in, and they'll send you a new one.

Years back I put my bike in my back seat to go to croom only realizing when I got there that I left the front wheel leaning against the car. When pulling up in the driveway there it was albeit ran over

You are kidding right?  I hope not, i might try it.

I got $500 deductible on car and prob more on the house.  But I did buy the ADH (Accidental Damage from Handling) additional warranty.  With SquareTrade.com so it may be covered.  Waiting for them to look at it.  We'll see...

I'm not kidding at all.  They have an issue with units just shutting off (loose connection on the power supply) so tell them that, get the RMA, send it in and they don't even really look at it.  Once you have the RMA#, you are golden.

I had the power issue on my Garmin (which occurred after I wrecked at FATS last year and broke my hand) and they returned it no questions asked.  A friend of mine wasn't having any issues, wrecked on Greens Lick on a little hip jump, had to put it back together, sent it in and they replaced it.

I never lied...my Garmin was having issues with it randomly shutting off, particularly on bumpy trails and it is a known issue with the unit (bumpy trails can sometimes cause a momentary disconnect from the power supply resulting in the unit turning off)...that's what I told them and they had no issue with me returning the unit.

My friend that wrecked, told them that he wrecked, but that he was also having the power issue and they had no problem either.  They refurb them and put them on eBay or sell back to their retailers.
