What is your light system?
« on: February 01, 2007, 08:37:26 PM »
For you folks who do 12 hour races what light system do you use and battery time do you get?  I get about 1.5 hours of 15 watt with my Night Rider Digital.  Hardly enough for a long haul.

I'm running a Lights and MotionSolo Logic, model year 2005. I'm discharging and charging the lights now to get them ready for the 12 hour. I have the NiMH battery with a trickle charger. It takes 14 hours to charge and you are not supposed to overcharge. They don't include a timer  but they reccommend that you use one. If you overcharge you can diminish the life of the battery. Hopefully I can get my light to last 1 hour.

Ells...

I have that light, and the regular solo.

I got pretty tired of the 14 hour per light to charge, plus I regularly was under or over charging it.

It is not the cheapest solution, but since I have two light and motion lights, I contacted Light and Motion. They sold me a "turbo charger for 125.00 shipped.

I  know it sounds like a lot, but both lamps are really good, and I now can charge them in a total of 5 hours, and I don't have to pay attention, because they will not over charge. They get fully charged everytime, and now both batteries last a little more that 2 hours and forty five minutes

I  will look into that. The light is plenty bright enough. Its no HID but is more than adequate for night riding. Compared to the older lights, its great. I was reading my owners maual and saw the turbo charger adn will check it out. They should not even sell the light with the inferior trickle charger.
