Where is this place.... Carter Rd in lakeland?
« on: September 17, 2009, 12:58:44 PM »
Anyone know where a park or riding area is in Lakeland called Carter road?  Some friends of mine want to ride it Sat morning.  I'd prefer to get my own directions/inside scoop of the place.

Take SR60 to the light in Mulberry (Hwy37) make a left, go about 3 miles and turn right at the innersection by the Walmart wich is Carter Road. it is down on the right. Very technical and tight...

It was a mud fest Sunday.  Friend of mine rode it Tuesday, said the same thing.  Don't know how much, if any, it will dry out before Saturday.

The RidgeRiders used to have access to a patch of private land that they built some nice trails on and it was called the T.O.E. (Trail of Experience).  It was maybe 5-6 mile singletrack loop that was pretty fun and it had an area in the front with a bunch of wooden stunts and dirt jumps.  Due to a bunch of issues, they lost access to the land so the TOE is closed :(

Watch out for Big Momma.

Saw a nice 6-7 footer swimming around when I was there Sunday.  I had stopped towards the end of Roller Coaster before going into Big Momma's house.  Looked down towards the water, and there he was, just cruising around.

Carter drains pretty good over all, specially the fun trails

The fingers, Roller Coaster, Puff -n- Stuff, Snake Ridge, and Baby Beast were all in decent shape.  Second half of Modelo Highway, Ivy, and most of Spector Sector were flooded in large sections..  Horseshoe and Rope Swing were also good.

Nice.  can't wait to ride it tomorrow.  Quick Q for ya'll.  Tire pressure. I've been playing around with it. First time out I was running like 50psi, it was dry out, wasn't bad, but a bit overinflated.   2nd time out I ran 43psi. It was dry and I really like it. Seemd great. Yesterday rode hole in the fence again with 35psi after the rain storm. hated it. Felt like the tires were a touch flat. So from my personal R&D, I've come up with 35-43psi as a window. Probly going to run 40 tomorrow at Carter Rd.  Opinions? I'm running the factory, steel belted Nevegals and blue grooves, which state 40psi Min 55psi max. Super HD Heavy tire, IMO it's like a Bogger... and they sucked last night on slipery wet roots and similar terrain. Mud & Hard pack tire IMO.
