New gear for the bikes.
« on: February 06, 2007, 08:09:37 PM »
Well after a couple of months of riding with the club I felt it was time to upgrade the bikes. This what I went with for Jen's and my bikes..... Same Rocket Pro I-Drive frames.

Spinergy wheelsets
Sram 990 cass.
Easton EC70 Carbon Setpost
Easton Monkey Lite Carbon Handle bars
Thomson X4 110mm Stems
Chris King Head sets

Now I am also thinking of getting new X-O shifters, I need to know if new and better shifters will help with hard shifting durning climbing or basic shifting... Your info is always great. Thank you...

There is no question that having a set of well adjusted quick acting shifters makes a huge difference.  What kind of shifters and derailuers are you running right now?

Hey ho, lets go! Hey ho XO!     ;D   XO is the way to go. I hear you want to get 2006 XO not the older units. The older stuff is still good but the newer stuff has been improved. I look foward to having some myself. Original Ellsrider has it  and his bike shifts so smooth.

I gotta put my two cents in here....

XTR!  :o

The new XTR or the old XTR, I think its easier to tune than SRAM XO or X9 is...  and because the new XTR stuff has come out and its design (appearance) is different you should be able to get a great deal on last years XTR stuff.  ;D

It is the same performance..  within a few grams weight, just a different design..

the world should ride a rigid singlespeed!

I am with Bob, I like the Shimano stuff. I prefer the shifting action. SRAM makes great stuff, but to me the Shimano is more intuitive, and that is important if you are shifting at a critical point.

Two words , DIRECT PULL. The SRAM fixed all of my shifting problems on my truth. Went through three XTR's, the cable housing never lasted long due to the dramatic curve from the seat stay to the derailuer.

I ike my XTR's also. The Srams 1 to 1 ratio is nice, I don't like both triggers on the bottom of the bar though. I never had alot of problems with my housings either, but I don't make sharp bends and keep them clean and lubed.
If you don't crash occassionaly, you're not riding hard enough!!
