I just signed up for a world of hurt
« on: February 06, 2007, 10:37:33 PM »
Well in a moment of stupidity / bravado I signed up for an event that is going to put the whammy on me.  I liked the look of it and figured what the heck.  Training starts Monday  :)  Event is 100 miles and 14,000 feet of climbing  :'(  Won't some one join me ? LOL

No thanks...  But good luck.  Let us know how you do.  Looks like the last rider needed 15 hrs and 10 minutes to finish.  If you pace yourself at no less then 8mph then you will have over 3 hrs to spend at the 6 sags and breaks.

Maybe some day I can work up to doing 100 miles.  My goal for 2008 is to do the Florida tripple crowns.  San Felasco, IDIDARIDE, and CROOM.  That will be 150 in three rides.

I dont want any of that pain. The longest I rode in the mountains was in Elijay a close to 40 miles and it kicked my arse. Maybe one day. Have fun that is going to be an awsome adventure, and one you can be very proud of to finish. :)

Brutal!   I looked at the course description and its one climb after another, all day long. What bike are you going to use?  Awesome undertaking.

Don't get yourself too psyched up over it.  Tell yourself it's just another ride.  Yeah, a long one, but you can take some breaks, right?  Use them to refuel, meditate, whatever gets you zoned and get back into it.  You'll be fine.  Wish I were doing it with ya'.  I've done road centuries. Off road 50's. Off road mountains without really paying attention to the miles.  Just how much I was going to enjoy dinner afterwards.  Have fun!

Hey Sean,

If I can convince my wife to let me go for the weekend, and spend some money..  I'll do it with you.. Hows that sound..

I was looking at the reg fee. Kinda steep but hey it's an offroad century never done that before!  God loves a challenge and I'll try anything once, twice if it don't kill me the first time.. ;D LOL..

Let me know what you think..

Sounds good!  I thought it was kinda steep also, but figured what the heck.  Just to ease the pain it includes 3 days of camp site access . . .  ::)

I just knew that Bob would put his name in the ring for this one. I am surprised it took him so long.

I will kill myself if the leg isn't better by then!!!!

If my endurance and strength comes back pretty quickly (relative endurance and strength). I will consider training for it. I will need to make up ground.
