Fixed gear Riders?
« on: October 03, 2009, 01:42:05 PM »
Any fixed gear riders here?  I just purchased a fixie for the paved trail and had planned to put a freewheel on it but I think I will be leaving it fixed.  Just wondering if there are anymore crazies like me on here.....lol

Nope, that wasn't me.  I am not familiar with this ride.  Road or mountain?

Road - there was a guy that showed up on a new fixie road bike....I just road 6 gap last week and got beat by a fixie...that is nuts in the mountains.

there is a shop that specializes in fixie type stuff and can hook you up with other riders.

FLfixed.com is the main message board for the Tampa fixie scene. Some really cool people but also a lot of people that just annoy me.
Michael at 66 is a top-notch great guy. Prices are kinda high compared to the internet but still very reasonable considering it's a specialty boutique shop.
I was tempted for a long time to build a fixie but never did. Still might, but I'm too involved with other things right now. Maybe as a summer project when it heats back up and the air conditioning looks increasingly attractive. Right now it's too nice not to be riding.

Mine. A Dawes SST AL with carbon seatpost, new saddle, a longer stem, and decals removed. It's my fun cruise around town bike and gets me to USF whenever I need to. Going to put some Crud Road Racer fenders on it I think, just need to order them.

Here is mine.  1974 Raleigh Grand Prix.  Currently it is in pieces and in my attic.  Broke a cotter pin and can't afford new cranks or BB conversion.  Bike rode great while it was working:
