Help me pick from these 3 bikes...

First off, how do you do a poll?  Anyway...  For my budget I've narrowed it down to 3 bikes:

1- Giant Trance X4; $1,425

2- Specialized FSR XC Comp; $1,550

3- Specialized Pitch Comp; $1,650

Looked around online and these seem to fit the use/budget. Ticks me off they don't advertise weight of the bikes. Opinions on these? I'm getting really tired of pushing a 33# bike out there... (Giant Rincon) I think I'm about ready to just pull the trigger on a bike.

what size are you looking for? I just bought a Trance X3 from AJ's and love it.. you should be able to get the X3 (much better Shock, Fork and components) for about what you would pay for the FSRxc Comp.. I had a 08" FSRxc Pro and like the Trance X3 MUCH better than the Spec...

I think AJ's had a Med Trance X3 left.. you should stop in and ask Dave or Darren to let you ride it.. you will like it. They have the other 2 as well, so ride all three to compare and buy what fits you best... 09' close-outs are a Deal!

I think if you ride the bikes you will see that the Giant has a more compliant suspension while retaining excellent pedaling efficiency.  I don't know how they compare component wise.  Good luck.  I don't think you can make a bad decision as long as the bike fits properly.

Ride them all then make your mind up. You may be able to find better bikes this time of year too for a WAY better price.

Those X4's are going for a grand, but I don't like the fork or shock. DW just got a sweet deal on a X3 with a Fox F100R 15mm fork and Fox Float shock for the same $$$ you are looking to spend ;)

I think AJs does have all 3 in stock.  The trance x3 is in your range, much better parts than the X4.  I love the FSR, the pitch rides really nice but is a little too much for FL in my opinion.  I would check out the c-dale rize too if you like those bikes.  Like the guys said, go ride them all.  Talk to the local shops and see what you can demo, dont just ride it in the parking lot.

Love my Trance!

If you plan to do out of state trips you may want to look at the Pitch due to more travel. The Trance will get the job done but mine rattled me to death at 4.2" of rear travel (new Trance's have 5" travel). My 6" travel Reign did amazing out west but I didn't take it on the extreme stuff.
Other than that, there is no reason to get 6" of travel unless you want to hit jumps at Santos, you are a super heavy guy, or you just get an amazing deal that you literally can't pass up. My bud just got a Pitch and he likes it. Pretty sure he is over 200lbs.

Darrin: You look a lot smaller in you profile pic. Did you lose a ton of weight trying to keep up with me at Boyette?

List seems pretty limited. There are quite a few good bikes out there in that price range. If I were you I would get out there and ride pretty much everything. Depending on your size you may also want to look into fs 29ers...I believe gary fisher has one in your price range.

The Specialized Stumpjumper FSR is a better bike to compare to the Trance x3 and the Comp model could be found under 2K this time of year.  As mentioned by others, the component spec on the X3 is a must over the X4 even if you have to eat bologna to make up for the difference.

Ok, if it has to be a trance, gotta be a X3 or better. Got it. Yeah I'd like to ride them. I like the way my Rincon rides, but it's heavy. Rode my bud's Specialized rock hopper hard tail front suspension and felt like I was riding a grampa bike. The geometry didn't work for me at all. Thanks for the help guys. I'll probly spend this Sat Bike shopping if they're open. See what I can't pick up.

Talk to Dave or Darren at AJ's they sell both Giant and specialized so you can compare rides back to back ;)
