What is the most evil obstacle?
« on: November 30, 2009, 03:49:11 PM »
What section of a trail do you think that looks easy, but is pure evil.  Besides the parking lot.  For me I always seem to do some tree banging on Lochness.

For me it is at Santos on the Rattlesnake trail.  The section is a short rough patch of trail that is hard to get much speed on, followed by a short steep uphill to left turn, to over a rock with a big rock on either side.  The section gets me more often than I would like though I usually clear it in 2-3 tries.

There is another section on Jon Brown that is a semmingly innocent flat right hand 180 degree turn, but it has a bunch of roots and rocks on it that like to stop you.  I used to have trouble with it, but I now go super wide and just ride straight over the stuff instead of trying to turn on it.

A few sections for me.  Not necessarily because they're easy, or overly hard, they're just in my head and I can't get over the mental aspect.

Rock step up into Doom at Alafia
Frank's Corner at Alafia
Couple of rocky sections at Santos.  One where you can go left over one section, or right over the other.  And also the spot where I endo'd and cracked my helmet.  Not sure of the names, since I don't know the trails there that well.

Aim for the tree on the left and it will carry you through them.

Climb into doom doesn't seem like it should be hard but I suffer there like now where else.It does't help that I've seen a few people consistantly make it without much effort.

Tree gap on the first rabbit ear (closest to parking lot)  messes with me a bit but I usually make it. Unless of course I make fun of someone else not making it then almost kill myself showing them how it is done.

Ahahahaha, the sandpit behind the john, I always worried what seaped into the sand there!!  There is another tree gap at carter, along the dirt road.  2 times in a row I jammed my bars there, dead freakin stop.  It was bad for me, but worse for the poor sucker behind me.

I almost come to a dead stop at that tree gap. Might just start taking the easy option so as not to be left behind.

Is all MENTAL folks... okay not all of it but some of it is.

That tight tree on sneaky snake, are you referring to the one before the steep climb or the tight trees by the road.  If by the road, I avoid the trees and aim on the right side of the tree on the right and go around it.  Just have to hop the bigo root and make a tight left turn to avoid the other root.

As far as the most evil spot for me, is that dam 3-black diamond "must bunny hop 3 ft up in the air" log on SandPine.   :o

Oh wait, they cut it now...   :'(
