Croom hunting season
« on: December 05, 2009, 09:37:50 AM »
This from the Croom Trail Boss:

Just a reminder, below are the hunting dates for this season. The only ones to worry about is the muzzle loading gun and general gun. The bike trails are NOT closed for these dates, SO, if you really want to ride, wear an orange vest. Please no holiday antlers or a white towel hanging from your camelbak.

We are thinking about riding Croom this weekend.  Seems that "muzzle loading" and "general gun" are closed this time of year.  The following appear to be open now:

Small Game: December 7 – March 7
Twin Pond open only.  All sites overnight rate.
Open on east side only 12/7 @ 2pm – 3/8 @ 2pm

Fox, Raccoon, Opossum and Bobcat:
December 17 – March 14

Spring Turkey: March 23 – 25; April 6 – 8 April 20 - 22

So what does this mean...are they hunting with slingshots or do we still have to worry about getting shot?  Granted I don't think my tall, lanky, 6'3 frame could be mistaken for a racoon...but I am still a bit concerned if it is safe to ride right now.

Perfectly safe to ride right now, and the trails are in great shape. I still like to wear my bright red shirt.
