For the Giant Lovers ( From an EW rider)
« on: December 21, 2009, 12:41:53 PM »
Just had to share after all the grief spread about the broken Ellsworth a few weeks ago.   ???

This a Giant AC 1, ridden by a 58 year old Flatwoods/Morris Bridge rider. This is the second broken AC1 he has had in 10 months.

On the good side, Giant replaced both frames under warranty.

* Everything man made, can break. ( Yes, even Ellsworths )

ps. I don't believe his wheels have ever left the ground from a jump.

Denial: When Giant riders are faced with a "Moment" of "Truth", will they have an  "Epiphany"and turn to the state of "Ellsworthia" for salvation? ;D    Ps. Rider weighs 205 lb, good thing I never took him to Alafia, frame may not have lasted 10 months.

Must be an issue with the AC and not Giant in general. I've owned two NRS's,one Yukon, one VT (buddies also have a VT & NRS) a Trance and a Reign. Ride all the hard trails and hard options at 190lbs. Haven't broken a frame yet.

Haven't broken a frame yet.

That's because you bonk after 2 miles.  Your bikes don't get a workout.  ;)

I suspect the frame will last a long time this time, it's hanging on the wall of his garage. Replaced it with a 399.00 new Sette Flite frame. ( which is lighter and rides great!)

Cat: Breakage: Pro-Flex 855 twice, Truth 3 times, Id Once.

Even our local fast girl has broken two or three Specialized and the Intense two of three times I think.

Gotta ride hardr to break things. ( Or just be unlucky I guess )

I must not be riding hard enough because I havent broken a frame yet. at 270lbs I have had 2 GF's, 2 Specialized, 1 Cannondale, and now a Giant. Granted, most will say I dont keep a bike long enough to break it. ;D

But at least if i do break this one, i am the original owner with a lifetime warranty!

That is a weird place for some breakage :o

I wonder if the AC's have a tubing issue (pre production) prior to getting welded to the rest of the frame?

Did he at least warranty the frame so he can resell the new one?
