2010 Police and Fire Games Question
« on: February 06, 2010, 09:20:47 PM »
This question is for anyone who participated in the games last year.  What does the mountain bike race consist of?  Are the trails like Alafia or are they just flat trails that you race on?  Myself and a couple other people want to participate in the race but are not quite sure what to expect.  If you could help us out I would greatly appreciate it.

Not sure where it will be held this year. The last couple were here in Sarasota. The MTB race was at the Celery Fields which are now gone. At least the trail portion is gone.

Last year and this year was on the other coast in Martin County.  I just don't know what to train for...big hills, or long distances.

Thats right. The year before was in Sarasota. I wouldn't expect anything crazy.

I emailed them and they told me it will either be alafia or carter, but weren't able to give me much more then that yet. Depending on what thye come up with I might give it a go for fun.

Can anyone give more detail on how the race is done? how do they start? how long is it?..........anything really?

I wouldn't think it would be at Alafia, since all the other events are on the other side of the state.  If it is over on this side I guess I won't be able to compete since my other events are over there.  :(

Ah, there is the problem....I'm talking about the the police/firefighter games.  www.lawgames.org  Oh well, I wish it were in Tampa this year!  I went ahead and emailed the people about the games, so I can find out about the date and the venue.  I'll post up when I find something out.

Just to follow up...I recieved an email back about the mt. bike portion of the games.  Bad news, they are not doing it this year because of lack of participation.  :-\  That sucks.  Maybe next year.

Tell the cops it's time to man up ;D

J/K I've heard some guys already talking about the fire games which travel around the state each year so participation is usually much better. Not sure if I'm gonna do it yet being they aren't exactly forthcoming with any info on ANY of the events.
