Mert was using magicshines I believe, for the price nothing else can touch it.  I've heard some older sets had QC problems but geoman would take care of that.  Take a look at ayups and amoeba also...

Mine works great. I wouldn't trust it for serious backcountry work but mines been good to me for what I need. Very bright, Battery last a long time, mount is pretty solid and versatile, and beam pattern is a decent compromise of throw and splash.

yeah i looked at Mert's.

i want to know burn time, water tightness, switch function, cable connections, etc, etc.

i love the Dinotte light i have. with the AA batteries i can ride as long as i have cells or as long as i can get to a store. it is great for bikepacking and slow overnight rides. i noticed at Pisgah, however, i could easily "out ride" the lights beam pattern and brightness.

i may just order another one and get the lens kit to make one bar mount flood and helmet spot.

but the magic shine is cheap and brighter....

what to do.....

i want to know burn time, water tightness, switch function, cable connections, etc, etc.

Burn time: approx 3 hours.  Never let mine completely die so can't give you a more specific answer.

Water tightness:  I wouldn't go swimming with it, but if I recall correctly, someone on MTBR put one in a glass of water and turned it on.  It worked.  Battery is not waterproof, but you can dip it in pasti dip and make it waterproof.

Cable connections:  On the lighthead, feels a little flimsy.  However, I haven't tugged on it with any significant amount of force to try and pull it out of the solder.  Connections between cables and battery fit pretty snug.

Switch funtion:  Everything is on the light head, cycle through the functions a push at a time.

Conclusion:  For the price, it does what I need it to do.  Would I buy another one?  Probably.

I haven't had any problems with mine either. As far as I can tell they're very well built and an excellent value. I just don't think I would trust it, just a gut feeling. I'd totally use it but I'd bring something as a back-up to limp out.

how much are these lights?

3 hour burn time?  I reckon if you had several batteries...

The 900 lumen racer kit comes with two batteries for $130.  Not a bad deal.

They rate it 3hrs on high mode (900 lumens).  Curious what the run time is on the mid (500 lumens).

$89 plus shipping
$124 plus shipping with extra battery

3 hours on full bright ... i would guess, 4-5 hours on medium and 8+ hours on low.

they "claim" 900 lumens on full bright.

there is a new model out they claim is 1400 lumens. a 3 LED unit with adjustments between 5% to 100% brightness. 5% last 250 hours and that should be about 70 lumens. $129.

it's got my attention.
