Training Video Recommendations
« on: July 04, 2010, 04:30:37 PM »
Any recommendations out there for training videos I can use with my trainer. It seems the Carmichael Training Systems (CTS) and Spinervals are among the more popular, but I have never tried them.

I would much rather hit the trails, but very heavy business travel and/or time have not been my friend lately.   >:(

I tried using videos, but it really did'nt do it for me. Instead I studied both the Friel and Carmichael books and devised a personalized program for myself that fits me. I still set the trainer up in front of the T.V. as a distraction during warm up and cool downs, but in the middle of a set I am focused on variables like HR, cadence, power and pace. Some consider this boring, but watching those variables improve work out to work out keeps my attention ;)

Thanks Scott! Perhaps I'll look into doing that myself.

CC,
When I was tie down to a trainer, I bought myself one of the Carmichael's videos.  Is call the Training Right Mountain Biking.  Best $15 I ever spent.  I bought it used but here is one for sale on Amazon:

I think I did it about 3 times before I got bore and the itch to get out to real trail was too much.

Thanks SP...I don't like the idea of having to use a trainer, but it will be better than nothing at this point. My goal is to be able to keep up with some of the "A" group riders once I do return to the trails. I've heard a lot of good things about the various Carmichael training videos, so may try one or more of them. That is, of course, until I can hit the trails again. Cheers!
