SWAMP Club Social Ride at New World Brewery / Ybor City

On Wednesday, August 25 at 6:30 PM, the SWAMP will be hosting an urban ride starting at the new world brewery in Ybor City.

After the ride, New World will be serving BBQ chicken with sides for $5.00 - baby back ribs along with chicken - $8.00, and pizza is available as another option (ordered from the menu). Oh yeah, and a wide selection of great beer on draft and in the bottle to quench your post-ride thirst.

The guided ride will leave New World at 6:30 and be an easy, stress free ride of approximately 12 miles. We should be back no later than 8 PM. If it should rain or even look like it might, show up anyway, it will still be a great time.

Nancy (a SWAMP club member) and Steve own the brewery, and they have recommended BBQ night for our second Ybor City ride.

Please send an email to to ken@swampclub.org by next Monday, August 23rd to let him know if you will be there, so we can let New World know how much food to expect.

We had a blast last time.  I enjoyed watching Jeff go up the steps at the trolley stops.

I'm putting serious thought into showing up.  Although I haven't been on one of these "urban assaults/Social Rides."  Anything I would need to bring or leave home that I would take normally trail riding?

This will be a first for me as well, I figure lights and a reflective vest so that the cagers can see me better.

I was told I shouldn't put my commuter 29ers on the bike though.

Lights aren't necessary - we'll be back well before it gets dark. A reflective vest isn't necessary, but it would definitely help.

I will carry a spare tube, co2 (or frame pump), multi tool, a bottle of water, and my cell phone.

Make sure to let Ken@swampclub.org know so that New World knows how much food to prepare...

I look forward to seeing you there!

I just realized I had Ybor Brewing Company confused with this place.

They both have pizza, but I see New World does not have a BBQ pizza. Bummer.

Anyways, here is their menu:

This is happening rain or shine, right? I've been Jonesing to get out and ride but this rain is keeping a brother on lock down.  :-[

Gruff and Jason,

Tell me..if it's spitting rain tomorrow like it is right now...will we just have a social?  Or will we say, "Damn the Bullocks" or something like that and ride in the rain anyway?

I'll be happy either way, programming the jukebox to the tunes I want to hear.

I am good to ride in the rain, lord knows I did at Flatwoods this weekend and got caught in a monsoon downpour at Alafia about 3 Weeks ago.

I'm not a big fan of the rain, but I'll probably drag the "ball and chain" out if it's dry enough. Seems like a good time an it is impossible to pass on a chance to eat pizza.
