Boyette pics from 3-14-07

Some trail photos for those who can't be there. The oak leaves have been dropping and the turns are an adventure. The ridge line in the field is green following a control burn last month and the trails are still holding up well considering the lack of rain lately.

Some motivation for you going through therapy to help get you back out there.

Wow, everything looks so green and purdy. I might head out there this weekend if we don't end up doing a swim with the Sea Cows.

Great pics. When I was there on Sun. the gators were making some noise as I rode old Abyss. I love this time of year.

I'm bringing my sister with me this Sunday morning. She'll be riding the Iron Horse and I'll be on my new-to-me Cannondale. I did a test-ride at my local training spot today and I've got to say that the tires on the new bike are the pits for FL riding. I'll be riding C group with my sister and I hope they do OK in Boyette. I did consider swapping tires with the IH, but I don't want to see her crash and get discouraged. The tires on the IH are awesome, I've a new-found appreciation for them!

BTW: IH has WTB Weirwolf 2.1s, C-Dale has Maxxis Larsen TT 2.0s
We see the world not as it is, but as we are.

Thanks for the pictures. It is motivating to me. I did not see any trails on Sunday at Squiggy.

I don't know about you guys but being out there in the woods really helps me stay sane (relatively), and I really miss it, so for me the pictures are very theraputic.

I will be out at the race at Alafia on Sunday volunteering so hopefully I will get to see some trails. Who knows.....Maybe even meet the mysterious "Ellsrider".

See you out there. Maybe?? LOL

We were at Boyette today in the first of what will be many Thursday evening rides.  who knows we might purposely stay late and bring our lights... Just in case we get flats if you know what I mean....  ;)

Those pics look good.  i think I have everyone of those places memorized now as I ride Boyette a lot.

Gregg,
Art is going to make you a Marshall for the race on the Bunny Ears trail.... Just for you....  JK... but I hope he gives you a spot close to the trail head.  See you there at 8:30.

Org Ellsrider, if do this race say hi to us course marshalls... or we'll turn you in for cutting corners... hehehehehe... jk.

Great pictures EllsRider.  I rode there this afternoon with MrSandPine and Janice.  We did not do North Abyess or Abyess, getting too late.  I will be helping Gruf with the food court.  Hope to meet you.

Gregg,  How long did the doc say before you can start riding trails again?

Ken,

It is hard to say. Physical Therapy is going pretty well, I am going 3 times a week for 2 and a half hours each time. We just started with electromangnetic therapy (shock treatment). It is supposed to work the muscle that is currently inactive due to the nerve trauma. It is pretty cool to watch.
My leg strength is starting to come back although it is probably about half as strong as it was. It had gotten pretty weak. I am walking less and less with the cane, although I carry it with me to help with balance.
I think that the bones are healing very well, but they are not at this point the thing that is holding me back. It is the damn nerve in my leg. It is the source of very significant pain. Until I can pull my foot towards me, more and with more control. It is safer to ride stationary. I have been riding about 5 miles +or- 5 days a week or so. While I am pedaling it is pretty comfortable. So I don't need to worry about that.

I guess the short answer is since this was such a severe injury and the surgery was so traumatic, It still could be another couple of months.
I go see the Orthopedic Doctor on the 28th of March, just a couple days before I go to Colorado ( I will not be skiing either), so we will see what he says then.

On the bright side. The physcial therapy is also strengthing my right side, and my back, and stomach.

Thanks for asking,

Gregg

Gregg,

I can help you with the shock threatment.  I have a high-current test set that will put out 50,000 amps, and another test set that can put out 100,000 volts.....JK...
Glad to see that you are getting better. :)
