New paint for old horse
« on: November 15, 2010, 10:49:02 AM »
Looking for some feedback on restoring a 94 chromoly frame. I am considering sanding and painting myself but heard that it can be fairly affordable to have done at a body shop. I am sure some of you have been down this road.

i just finished a 92' trek 930 single track. i had it done at brothers powder coating in NPR. they chemical stripped it then powder coated it with 2 coats of color, and one coat of clear powder for $80 it came out flawless. i'll post up a pic later if your interested.

+1 for Pro Coat.  I haven't used them for a bike frame but they did a great job on a set of wheels for my car a few years back.

This is a 94 RockHopper, bought it new totally rigid, trashed it, replaced everything, road some more, sold it, got it back recently and it will probably end up converted into a single speed. So nobody thinks stripping and painting at home is a good idea? Thanks for the link Luis (ProCoat).
