How to make a better map track from GPS?
« on: November 22, 2010, 10:40:59 PM »
I have a Garmin Colorado 400C and I'm trying to get some somewhat accurate track on googlemaps.  So far, here's what I have: It also doesn't show stats such as moving/stopped time, mph, etc.  Anyone have an idea?

Do you want to create a track to follow on the GPS or do you want to upload data from your rides? There are lots of websites that will do this.

For creating tracks try mapmyride, gmaps pedometer etc...

For uploading tracks try mapmyride or garmin connect etc...

I like topofusion (http://www.topofusion.com/) the free version is limited but will allow you to work with tracks and you will be able to export tracks in every format imaginable for sharing and mapping.

for creating (or finding) tracks/courses I also use mapmyride (imapmyride on iphone).  For updating rides I done and create my own tracks from it (even piece together different gpx files) i use Sport Tracks.  Is a great free tool.  Somewat small but very powerful.  http://www.zonefivesoftware.com/SportTracks

Tried sport tracks, not ready to pay for it.  Tried mapmyride, but it was acting up.  When I try to upload a route directly from GPS, it wouldn't upload any tracks, as if it only wants to upload saved routes?  Then if I did get a .KML file to upload it still wouldn't have my trip computer data for the ride.

Hmmm... try saving the gpx to your computer and then upload it to the website.

Sportstracklive is only $10 and will show you all the info you could want.. will also work with a Bluetooth HR monitor. oh, but it is for android phones .
