Stolen Bike - Keep eyes open, THANKS
« on: April 27, 2011, 01:04:20 PM »
My name is Danny Worzella, swamp member, ride Boyette, Alafia a lot.  Ride with Forrest Kutyna, Tom Pham, Brian Sparks, Dave Hawkins, etc in that group.  If you dont know name you would proobably recognize me.

Had my bike stolen off my car rack in DT Tampa over the weekend.  Cut my cable and gone.  Pretty unique one-off build.  If anyone see's on any auctions,  pawn shops, on trail, etc please let me know.  Police report has been filed with Tampa Police.

Bike:

White Soul Cycle 29er hardtail frame
Red accents
Red Chris King hub/Salsa rims wheelset
Rockshox Reba Race fork
XO shifter/derailer
Hope hydraulic brakes/red disc's
running 1X9

Many other smaller parts but these are the defining characteristics.

Makes me sick as I loved my 2 9er.  You can email or call me at 727-631-2594

Thanks everyone.

I hope you have State Farm auto insurance, if you do, you will be a happy camper, file the claim and start shopping.

Don't know if other companies have same coverage, but you should contact yours and find out.

Good luck!

sometimes the theft like this is covered by homeowners insurance even though it was nottaken from your home.  Might as well check and find out how your coverage works.

These threads are never fun to read.

Best of luck getting your bike back/working something out with insurance!

Might not hurt to post a pic... and also are there any defining characteristics you remember on individual parts? Like scratches somewhere? Idk I am just trying to think of things to maybe look for in case someone was parting it out.

Yes, it is should be covered under your Homeowners Policy, but if you're like me, you've got $1000 deductible for theft. You may have a lower deductible and it may be worth looking into.  But if your net from the claim is less than $1,000, unless you are really hurting, I wouldn't file a claim.

Of course, you had added at least $1000 worth of components, enough to cover your deductible?

Not worth filing a claim IMO...gives them  more reason to jack up your rates or drop you at renewal time.  Plus they will pay you depreciated value of the bike/components not new 2011 retail for those parts.

I certainly know this bike from seeing it at Alafia and it stands out.  Will keep an eye out.

Dang...that sucks...My house was broken into by a former roommate with a vendetta.  Turns out he was 10 years older than he said and was running with a drug crew.  I reported the theft to the insurance and they sent me a check, NO PROBLEMO.  All you have to do is put together the entire parts list with RETAIL REPLACEMENT pricing, have a bike shop verify and sign off, and get a check in the mail....they probably won't drop you.

Thanks to everyone who has replied and all keeping an eye out. No luck in recovering (haven't been holding breathe).

My auto insurance, Progressive does not cover (FYI for anyone looking at them).  We just sold our house and moved to Naples, renting until our new construction complete next mth. Renters insurance wld not cover.

Was stolen at the valet of the Hyatt DT Tampa and they have submitted a claim. Again, not holding my breathe but any $ will help toward a replacement.

Have been looking on eBay and craigslist, no luck. Anyway, thanks again to all. New build will be as good or better.

Danny
