Riding Partner
« on: April 15, 2007, 03:50:36 AM »
Anyone up for some weekly rides in Boyette? I'm free most of the week after 2 and always feel the need to get some trail time in. Down side is I am still a beginner.  I am comfortable on all the beginner trails, and have ridden lochness, palmetto cable and parts of east meadow.  I am always looking to expand my abilities and get in a good workout. Would prefer someone at about the same ability level but I'm not picky.

I'm always riding on Sat in the morning at Boyette and Alafia State Park, and I'm just started riding a few months ago. So I'm basically in between beginner and intermediate level.

There are several us us that ride Boyette Thursday Afternoons around 5:30.  We usually ride around a b- pace, but we spend time practicing areas that give us difficulties.  Feel free to join us, and have a blast.

I need to practice the stream crossing on the left loop. ;D ;D  Look at Forrest's pictures and you will know why!

Actually we did called him Stich.  We also have Thumper (even though we called you that for a while), and lastly we have Bleeder.  Look at the pics and you'll know why.

You won't see a pic of Thumper but you might figured out who it is.  He loves to jump logs a lot.  Specially uneven ones and falling off from them.  LOL....

Benji and all,
We are thinking of maybe doing Alafia just this Thursday.  We have new no fear attidude left over from the trip and we want to try things we haven't try at Alafia.  We'll discuss them tomorrow at Gators after tuesday night ride and we'll see where we go.  Boyette will also be cool to do specially attempt that last drop on the Abyss.  Maybe ride it twice or so... hmmm... we'll see...

We'll post something here to letyou know where we are riding Thursday.

KJ- what time in the mornings do you ride at Alafia? I finally got new tires on the Rush and am ready to take it out there. I'm still trying to get used to clipless so you can watch me fall a lot :-[

I usually go around 10am to Alafia and Boyette. But yeah dont worry about about falling and stuff you got to learn somewhere. I'm planning to get clipless myself pretty soon, so I'm going to have that same problem as well with them.
FYI, this Saturday I'll prolly go to Alafia so let me know about riding out with you. If you want to go to Boyette I'm down for that well.

Don't know how long you've had the clipless, but I found that clipping in and out on easier trail sections and while transition between trails helps a lot in getting used to them.  Always clip out when you anticipate stopping.  Don't feel bad, everyone who goes clipless has the falling period.

I might be riding Boyette or Alafaia this weekend as well. I would strongly advise going to clipless asap. Once used to them, it will change your riding forever. (For the better.) They can really make you a better rider. The first time I ever cliped in was at Croom for the 50 mile challenge. Needless to say I was used to them by the end.
