« on: June 09, 2011, 10:17:01 AM »
 >:(

this is a bit old but since i dont have a reason to go out to the trails anymore i figured id see if you guys could keep your eyes out for it for me....

Stolen off the back of my truck rack... cable locked.... didnt think people just carried bolt cutters around.... guess i was wrong.

It was stolen from Downtown St. Pete... at the USF SP Dorms back in early Feb.

Its a gray/silver frame XTC 2 29erwith blue grips and black with blue spring crank bros mallets.... rear derauler has been changed from stock.... the day before it was stolen! to x7 i think it was... :| been too long and didnt have it long enough.... plenty of memorable scratches that i could identify. Mine was the only one that I had ever seen in TB area not to say there arnt others but they werent super popular... so if u think you see it somewhere please let me know! Thanks.... been hunting this guy for a while now and ive got nothing but time  8)

damn brother, that sucks for you, but why so late on posting this? by now, your bike has been sold to a crack dealer who sold it on craigs list to someone else that sold it on ebay.

From being an adjuster most auto insurance won't cover a stolen bike.

Bikes stolen on campuses are big business.  These people DO GO AROUND WITH BOLT CUTTERS all of the time and have even been known to take the whole bike rack with the bikes and part them out.  Like a chop shop for bikes.  Hope that you reported it right away.  The only way they can try to catch them, outside of luck, is to track them by the trail of stolen bikes they leave behind.  Most of these guys are professionals at this!

Sorry to hear you were hit.

I agree Garry. Along with bolt cutters they probably have freon too. Like the guy who had his bike stolen off his rack at university bike shop, some say it was a crackhead but I disagree.       A crackhead or non professional would be fumbling around trying to get it off the rack as some are kinda complicates as mine is. When I do urban riding and stop to eat or take a break, I switch to small ring/top cog so if they happen to hop on the Bike they wont get far fast lol

STAEFARM Auto covered my buds Ellsworth stolen off the car rack at UBC for a cash payout for 5500.00

Don't be dumb, if you haven't called your insurance carrier, do it.

yes, I have Statefarm coverage too... maybe it's an Ellsworth bike thing.

Good luck!
