Author Topic: FOOLS GOLD/SAN ANN TRAINING RIDE 06/18/11 (Read 830 times)

The SB will be hosting a San Ann MTB ride Saturday the 18th. The route will be 35 miles and have one convience store stop mid route. We will meet at the ball field parking lot and roll out at 7:30 A.M.

Where is the ball field parking lot? is this a no drop or all drop ride? do I have to shave my legs for this?

Take 75 North to san ann exit, go east to traffic lite at curley, take a left and go about 1 mile, look for county park sign and turn left, ball park is right there.

standard San An rules apply = its a no drop ride as long as you are able to keep up.

I don't mean to scare you DW but I am concerned. You have always commented how you do not like cars buzzing you as your ride your bike on a street. You come out to this ride and do any of the routes on the map Scott posted, you will be buzz'ed. There will be fast cars and trucks coming close to your handlebar. There is no wobbling from the right side of the road to the middle. Specially if you are not in a group. Safety in numbers up there and obey all traffic rules and of course use common sense.

Listen up. DW is a mans man...You dont have to be concerned for him. You just better worry that your handlebar doesnt come close to his, cause you will be the one wobbling side to side with increasing occilation to the point that you will be doing the superman.

If you intend to join us Saturday PM your cell digits, I will make a list of names that start the ride. If for any reason someone gets dropped due to mech or other reasons I will be able to contact said rider. I will have my truck for extraction if needed. This is intended to be a no drop ride, but things do happen, this is insurance in case your on the fence

It was fun for sure. I can see the benefit from riding there since you simply do not get those sortd of climbs on the dirt trails. Going to hit it a few more times before FG...hope to hang with the group a bit longer next time.

Didn't Cohutta teach you anything? FG tip #1 carry extra tube. Tip 2#carry extra tube for the extra tube. Tip #3, send extra tube for the extra tube for the xtra tube to sag #4 bag.

Its all a learning experience SP. I was still smiling when Scott pulled up after i walked for over an hour. NEver Ever leave without a tube.. even riding on road with beefy tires. Never walk past a convenience store in summer when you break down. Never finish a race and a century road ride then sit on your ass for a month and expect to be able to ride well.
