Croom - superb
« on: August 08, 2011, 09:30:20 AM »
Got motivated to drive the 1:45 to Croom yesterday...gettin bored with road riding here in Sarasota.  What a gem that place is...wish I still lived up near there.  Get out there if you like the place -- conditions are PERFECT.  Fast.  Minimal sand, at least the sections I rode -- all yellow, south red, some south blue, north red & sugar mtn.

Keep the glowing reports quiet, next thing you know people will start riding up there. It is super sandy with lots of biting bugs.  Very easy to get lost and run out of water.

How much water should be brought to complete the blue trail? Are there any water stations? I plan on taking a trip in 2 weeks.

Take a 70 oz. bladder minumum if it is your first trip out, 100 oz if you go in the heat of the day. The only water available is at Tucker Hill parking #3 but this would add 7ish miles one way to your route. Parking at #3 gives you a  shower after your ride.
