Santos Route
« on: August 13, 2011, 12:32:19 AM »
I'm going to Santos Sunday and have only been there once.  If anyone is familiar with the trail, can they share their usual route so I don't get too lost.   I will probably have my teen son with me so I may or may not do the red trails.  Thanks

I find it best to just explore the multiple trail options on the first few times there. The yellow trail rings the park, with the blues crossing through the middle. The reds on the santos side are pretty tame, I like sinkhole and anthill a lot, with John Brown being the more physically demanding of the red choices. Print the map and hit em all.

You may also want to Check out nayles trail. It goes west from the 49th avenue trailhead. I think it's a step up in terms of blues from the main trailhead side. I think it's a total of 12 miles out and back. Plus it also connects with the new ross prarie trail they are building.

Where is 49th avenue trail head in relation to the main trail head?  Is it the vortex parking lot?

Thanks for the info.  We will do some exploring tomw.  By the way, what is a pump track?  I was told there was one there.

A pump track is a series of small roller hills and bermed corners that with some practice you can ride almost without pedaling as you use your whole body to 'pump' the track and gain speed.
