Simple question about 3 rings vs 2 rings
« on: August 16, 2011, 02:33:39 PM »
If and when I change from a 3 ring in the front to a 2 ring, do I need to change my deraliuer and/or shifter? I have a Shimano LX Deore and on the shifters, all I can see is Mega on them.

you should, but I think you also just adjust the front derailuer to not shift to the large or small ring also if you want to rig it...

Just adjust the front der.  I'm running two rings on what was originally a three ring setup.

How about just one ring?  Single speed or 1 X 9 is how I roll.

1X9 is the way to go for FL.  Everything else is overkill....

Do it yourself to save some money and learn some mechanical skills.  1x9 conversion is very simple.

Because they have not yet learned the way.

Did not realize I was going to start a debate....Anyhow, I did just purchase the Raceface Single Gear and Bottom bracket, New 770 Free wheel and chain from JensonBikes.com And right after I signed up I got this in the email! I will now be ordering the Shimano LX as a back up for that price!
