From St. Pete downtown along Beach Drive to 1st St.... right on 83rd ave past Weedon Island over the Gandy onto Bayshore through downtown Tampa to Fletcher right onto Flatwoods...bam! Been there done that. I'd rather do that distance off road. It's a tough route that seems twice as far IMO.  :o

How many miles was that?  Too bad there probably isn't enough energy after that ride to hit the off-road trails as well.  Truly epic.  Wish there were off-road trails in St. Pete besides Boyd Hill Nature Preserve.  But, with a little practice could make a route out of BH.

There are off road riding trails at Boyd Hill? I've seen the walking trails. Can you ride on those?

Hygiene - What road are you riding on from downtown Tampa north to Fletcher? Thanks.

It's been a couple years so I don't remember off hand. Mapquest would help. I was following my group and loving the scenery rather than paying attention to street signs. The bridge will wear you out with the slow steady uphill, downhill is cake ;)

I do a lot of riding in and about south and downtown tampa, as well as to USF and Flatwoods.
Here's the standard route that I think most people use from Gandy:

I typically ride a slightly different route that goes through USF and involves less riding on Bruce B Downz:

Feel free to PM me if you have any other route questions. If you are riding MTB there is a more interesting, but longer route option :)

Yes, you can ride all of the trails and there are other trails in the back not on the map they give out.

Hey MKsandoz - Thanks for your input. Do you have a gmap of the "more interesting, but longer" mountain bike route?
