Fox fork color change
« on: November 06, 2011, 07:58:54 AM »
Does anybody know if Fox paints or power coats the color of the external fork.  I. E it's black now i want to have a white one, but i figured the best and most cost effeciate is to paint it.

does anyone know if this is possible and how they would paint it to where it doesn't come off?

take the fork apart. paints just like anything metal. or, mask it well then paint it. make sure the surface is prepped well. youtube can guide you along. 8)

The toughest paint i have come across is Duplicolor Engine Enamel. Doesn't need to heat cure and is stupid tough. I have used it for years on car parts and it lasts. Careful with rattle can clear over white as it has a tendency to yellow over time.

As stated the key is prep. You don't need to sand off the old finish if it is in good shape. I would degrease the crap out of it, rough it up with a somewhat fine scotchbrite pad, clean with alcohol, then spray.

its a brand new anthem x29er i just really badly want a white fork.   I have the black one i rather sell mine and buy a white one but i dont' want to loose a lot of money to change colors.

Figured painting the black one white might be the best way.   I want it to look just like factory white as i won't be painting this.  Probably take to a friend that paints high end cars.  I am just not sure how to take the fork apart?
