Very nice pictures and write up. I still haven't seen a gator while out riding, but it's sure to happen.

Remember- May is mating season so stay out of fresh water and be extra careful around any gators you see. They ate 4 people last year in May....

Ohhkk...so, don't flame me here, but what in <insert favorite diety here>  name does one do when they run across this sort of thing. Since I am a newb I end up riding the easy trails a lot by myself while my friends do the harder trails and can only imagine being found mauled and covered in shiznit!

Gators usually will leave you alone, unless you are a small dog.. Wait for them to leave or just go around them giving them a wide berth.

They are usually more than happy to move for you. Some times you'll hear the grunting but it's not something I'd be terribly concerned about. Keep your eyes open and don't feed them. They're not going to be aggressive towards you unless it's a female defending a nest.
