Lookin for a new bike.
« on: November 20, 2011, 11:46:50 PM »
I'm new to mountain biking in a way.  i've got a cross bike i take to wilderness park every so often, but i'm lookin to get a dedicated all mountain type bike for rougher trails (haven't even tried alafia or santos yet).
right now i'm looking at the stumpjumper fsr expert evo 29 (http://www.specialized.com/us/en/bc/SBCProduct.jsp?spid=62075&scid=1100&scname=Mountain), though i haven't been able to test ride much of anything.  i'm also thinking of something along the lines of a 26" enduro type bike.  overall, i'm lookin for all day climb and descend capability and bomb proof.  i plan to use it pretty much all over the country, and then some.

opinions?

also, i'm thinkin of heading to AJs and maybe up to santos a few times to sample some wares in full day or weekend rentals.  anyone care to join?

A lot of bike is only in the eye of the non-beholder. Nice choice! Enjoy!

I like the Evo line but they are a limited edition so the back order time is 3-4 months or more usually. I looked into the Stumpy hardtail EVO.

Ok so Iíve been back into mtb for a couple of years now and have been riding an old 2nd hand 2004 endure. Thinking this year is the time to actually splash the cash and get a new bike but with so much choice its difficult to narrow down bikes to test
I mostly ride trail centreís and natural hills I have been known to spend the odd day at the freeride areas and have done a couple of all day runs like West highland Way etc I'm planning on doing an alps trip next year and riding Nevis this year.
Spend limit is around 2000 for brand new bike (but i do get a 10% discount with most local bike shops through work so can push a bit)
I was thinking maybe a lapierre zesty or a commence meta maybe a cube fritzz or stereo??
thoughts??
(I know the best thing to do is get out and test ride but with a test costing around 40 quid and you cant get every brand in one shop Iím trying to narrow the search)
