December Visit
« on: November 24, 2011, 06:36:04 PM »
Hey guys,

Native Floridian here, now a Texan.  I never rode when I lived in Tampa but ride 2-3 times per week in DFW.  I'll be visiting family in December and plan to hit Alafia (maybe a couple times) while I'm in town.  I won't be brining my bike so I need to rent a rig.  Know of any shops near the trail to rent from?

Thanks!

Drew

Thanks Murf.

What's the best source for current trail conditions?  Is Alafia sensitive to rain or can it hold some water and remain open?

usually just asking in the shout box at the top of the page will get you current trail conditions.

Rented an Epic 29er from AJs and hit the trail on Wednesday.  Wow, what a gem of a trail.  Rode all loops and a couple of them twice.  My only regret was riding Moonscape last since I was getting tired by that point and did a little more hiking than I prefer   :-\.  In any event, I was really impressed with the variety and challenge on loops like Gatorback and Moonscape.

Great work guys.  I'll be riding Alafia every time I come back to Tampa going forward.

Oh, and lost a gold Polar water bottle (on North Creek I think).  Let me know if anyone happened to find it and I can have someone pick it up.
