loud animal at Alafia
« on: January 26, 2012, 05:42:59 PM »
Anyone riding Alafia on Monday around noon?  There was a super-loud roar that scared the crap out of me, I was on Bridges at the time.  It sounded almost lion-like, so I don't think it was a gator or a boar.  I've seen bobcats at boyette but this sounded like it came from a much bigger animal.  Anyone know what it might be?

It was a skunk ape!

Watch the Bridges trail video. Around 2:31 my camera caught the beast's shadow. I was filming by myself at the time.

skunk apes are silent, except during mating season.  so probably something else.

Alligator. Heard them at Boyette. just do a google search of alligator growl. Its when they start into the mating season and start defending their territory.
