For better or worse, I am able to rationalize away many bike fatalities. Many happen at night, or the rider is drunk or travelling in the wrong direction on a busy highway - things I never do. This one is tougher. It could have been me. I rode by that spot just a few hours earlier. I suspect many Swampers have pedalled right past where this happened, too.
