Trimmers unite!
« on: April 23, 2012, 08:22:50 AM »
Still looking for a few people out of the hundreds that ride and enjoy the trails to take on the task to grab any day that works for them to do a Ride-N-Trim at Boyette.

It's pretty easy to do and only takes one day out of your ride time.  Put in a few hours on any day that works for you, carry some trimmers or loppers in your Camelback, and trim the face slappers back.  All trails, the Quadrants too.  Please throw all trimmings well off the trail!

It is an opportunity to give back to the very trails that you enjoy on any given day.

Our next official workday is Sat., May 12th.  It would be nice to have most of the trimming done by then so that we concentrate on other trail issues so that you can enjoy the entire trail system.

 Thanks in advance!!

I was looking on here to see if anyone was heading out Monday when I saw your post.  So I just headed out by myself and brought the clippers with me.  I rode some and clipped some, rode some more and clipped some more.  I left plenty for the rest of you.    ;)

Good idea!

New member here; been riding Boyette a couple of months now.  I'll be sure to stow some trimmers for the next ride this Friday afternoon as I'm working nights currently.

Vista Ridge was trimmed today.

Vista Ridge?  Yikes!  I rode that for the first time last week and the entry with the hard 90 degree left was tough.  I almost missed the turn and would have ended up at the bottom.   Gary, may need to shore this entry with a border plank or sumpin'.   Just my observation.

The hog damage was fixed back to it's original cut a couple of months back.  It's washed out now?  I'll take a look at it tomorrow morning as a few of us will be doing some work out there.

Looked at Vista Ridge today and it is fine with the fixes that were done a little while back .  Yes it has a 90º turn to make at the start, but that is the way that it has been for over 14 years just better with the repairs that were done a few months back.  Should have rode it when it was first built - makes you want to be aware of a trails features before you hit it full steam.

I trimmed the easy option entrance to Ridgeline yesterday.

Yep, sorry for the goose chase.....  that "was" my first run on it,  and since I was riding alone, it just sorta startled me.  Appreciate all the hard work.

Hello all you SWAMPers.  Boyette needs a little TLC again and anyone can do it.

It doesn't matter what day or time of day - it just needs your help trimming.  Pick pretty much any trail that you want and it can use some trimming.

Pack some loppers or hedge shears in your Camelback or strap to your bike and ride until you get to any overgrowth and trim.  Please throw all trimmings well off the trail too.
The rains and being in the growing season means lots of work for a few, or a little work for lots of people; which one is quick and easy?  That is the great thing about the SWAMP volunteers - that they can band together and get the job done!

So won't you lend a hand while we are in this time of need?  The upcoming official workday of July 7th (Yes that is the first Saturday of the month but the way the calendar works it is right) will be focused on repairing erosion from the rains and reopening Ridgeline.  I checked Ridgeline today and it needs to stay closed until we fix it.  So with volunteers focusing on repairs of assorted trails it would be great if people could go out on their own any day and trim back the overgrowth!

Thank you all in advance for your assistance in keeping our trails in tip top shape to enjoy on each of our ride days!

 Garry
