Local wheel builder
« on: May 06, 2012, 09:41:06 PM »
Does any one know of a local wheel builder in the Tampa/St Pete area that I can get in touch with?

I'm looking for someone that I can talk to about hoop/hub/spoke options that's not trying to push a specific brand.

I need education not a sales pitch.

Thanks!

I know Casey at AJ's pushes the Profiles hard.  They are good hubs but some may not like this.  However, he will talk to you about other options and knows a great deal about other hubs.  Even if he bashes the others a bit, it may still be worth a talk with him.

Casey won't push you anywhere...tell him what you're looking for and he'll give you the options and as anyone will...he'll give you his preference for what you're looking for...

Casey will build you whatever wheel/hub you want and even spell out your name on the spokes.  :-)  Check it out...

Sorry I'm dredging this one up.

Anybody in the North Tampa or New Tampa area willing to recommend somebody who can fix a wheel?  I had a roadbike wheel trued at UBC... they did in fact get it into true but it's still not tensioned all around properly.

I've traced a rubbing noise and I'm certain it's got to be to spokes rubbing together.  It makes the sound every time the wheel rotates and doesn't do it unless I'm putting weight towards the back tire (gets lighter or goes away when get out of the saddle or put all the weight on front wheel.

Thanks.
