what are some good used high-end bike sites?
« on: May 09, 2012, 04:20:29 PM »
i heard you can get really high-end bikes online cheap. You just have to get them rebuilt, as they are shipped boxed. I can't seem to find any, though. Any recommendations?

huh? are talking about sites like bikes direct? by highend, what do you mean? most brands like Specialized, Giant, Trek, etc. dont allow their bikes to be sold online unless you have a store... you can get other brands like GT, Niner, Jamis, and few others online at like Jenson Cambria bike, or Tree Fort.

someone was once telling me they bought used bikes for several hundred dollars, had them rebuilt, and then sold them again when they wanted to try something else. i will try those two sites, however. thanks.

oh used bikes... yes, craigs list is best.. make sure you check other areas of florida you can drive to easily, like Orlando, Sarasota Ocala, etc.. it is better that you know what you are looking for though, and what a good price on it is. remember, no warranty on used bikes so make sure it is worth it.

Check ebay for seldom used bikes, I got a 2011 Trance X3 for $1250 recently :)

A couple of years ago when AJ's sold a million Trance X3s I bought mine new for $1,350.
Parts spec looks pretty comparable to the current X3 too.

Looks like you were bamboozled and are left without a warranty.
The good news is that Giant's don't break.
The bad news is that the previous owner farted on your seat before you bought the bike.

Being somewhat serious for a moment,

How much can you spend?

How tall are you?

Do you want Dual suspension or a hard tail or heaven forbid one of those retro SINGLE SPEED NO Suspension things?

Yeah, my 2009 x3 was $1280 brand new plus tax, with race face bits instead of the giant OEM stuff.. ;)
