Who's riding what?!!!
« on: May 17, 2007, 06:35:57 PM »
Hey everybody!!

Just trying to get an idea of the variety of bikes that are represented by the S.W.A.M.P club. I have friends that ride in other parts of the country and we have discussed the differences in bikes in certain places and also the variety of different bikes ridden in a certain area. Tell us what you ride and how you have upgraded it to suit your needs. My bike is:

Gary Fisher Piranha (hardtail)

-Marzocchi MX PRO eta/tas 100-120mm fork
-Shimano XT crankset (octalink non-outboard bearing)
-Shimano XT rear deraileur (non-rapid rise)
-TIME ATAC xc pedals
-Bontrager ACC carbon seatpost
-Specialized Rival 143 saddle
-IRC Mythos XC 2.1 kevlars
-Yeti Hardcore grips
Gary Fisher Piranha w/ XT crankset, XT rear, WTB MotoRaptor 2.14 race's, carbon seatpost, Marzocchi MX PRO ETA/TAS

I've got a few rides but my regular is a:

Giant Trance 1
Oury lock on grips
Cane Creek lizzard skin Bar ends
Crank bros Candy SL's
other wise stock.

Still a very nice bike, not quite XC and not quite an All mountain. I think it is considered a Trail bike.  Great for riding out here. IMO
Pedal fast, Hit hard - pain is temporary, and chicks dig scars!!

p.s. you'll have to wait for the one in the works but it will be around 19 lbs...

2007 Trek EX 8
Stock with Primo pedals

It rips...it's close enough to all mountain that it handles drops and jumps well ( 4 3/4 and 5 1/4 rear and front suspension), but light and fast enough to fly on trails!!!
Work, what's that?!  Oh, s*** I'm late!

Riding a gary Fisher Marlin, a hard tail, close out model from last year. Box stock right now. Bought it to ride paved trails with my wife and daughter and single track with my teen age boys. I had not ridden in 12 to 15yrs, wow.loving the trails way too much and already looking hard at full suspension fishers, specialized, and giants. Looking forward to riding with swampers soon. Love that santa cruz FACTORe.

Kona Hoss (hardtail) frame 7000 series aluminum
Reba Race Fork
Chris King headset
Truvative XR 4 bolt stem
Bontrager XXX Lite Carbon Bar
Oury lock on Grips
XT Shifters
Hayes HFX9 HD Disc Brakes
Bontrager "Earl" All mountain Wheelset
DT Swiss hubs
Sram 990 Rear cassette
XTR Front deraileur (07)
XTR Rear deraileur (06)
Shimano  LX hollowtech Cranks
XTR chainrings
XTR chain
Time Atac XS pedals
Bontrager X lite ACC Carbon Seat post
WTB Laser V with leather cover, and ti rails ("team" i think)
Teflon Derailuer cables
Maxxis ultralite tubes
Panaracer XC Fire Pros 2.1

That about covers it, It is a bit overbuilt design for a clyde (like me). It is nearly bullit proof, has great XC handling but is as tough a jump bike.

I love it! It was really custom built to me and my riding style. Just weighed it at about 26 and a half pounds, Not a lightweight for a hardtail, but it is really tough.
