Alafia - trail maintenance status - 09/19/2012
« on: September 20, 2012, 09:11:26 AM »
Hi all riders,
Here’s the latest update on the progress towards getting Alafia trails(map) back to their expectations – e.g. blue trail signs welcome intermediate riders.

I have received many compliments on restoring our intermediate trails to fast & flow. Since my last status four weeks ago, we’ve accumulated 180 volunteers hours. Improvements:
- NorthCreek’s long mud hole has been repaired;
- NorthCreek’s difficult root problem now has a fast banked turn;
- NorthCreek’s campground connector is open for two-way traffic for campers and FTF riders;
- Bridge’s south section is now intermediate with better flow;
- SandPine and RockGarden have extensive root extraction enhancing novice riding;
- RockGarden’s long mud hole has been filled with 22 pavers;
- RockGarden’s intermediate loop is improved;
- RockGarden, Moonscape and Gatorback are power trimmed with great visibility;
- maintenance has begun on the advanced/black trails options on Rollercoaster;
- new signs are replacing old or incorrect ones, adding many more “You-R-Here” signs;
- RiverLoop’s south loop is still underwater, with broken boardwalks and mud everywhere. Please honor the CLOSED signs.

Maintenance over the next four weeks:
- finish RollerCoaster’s advanced options;
- continue maintenance of all RabbitEars;
- open RiverLoop’s SW section accessing the campground connector;
- start maintenance on Shelley’s, Frank’s, Moonscape and Gatorback.
Come out and ride Alafia…  and if you want to help improve the trail conditions, please volunteer.

I just wanted to say a big thanks to the trial workers.  I rode North Creek two weeks ago and then again this past weekend and noticed a BIG difference.  I liked it so much I rode it twice!  Thanks again.
