I bought a hardtail
« on: May 25, 2007, 11:27:12 PM »
I've had a SS I ride for about a year, I mix up riding the SS with rides on my Rush. I've always wondered how a geared hardtail would ride. I finally got one this week, C-dale Caffeine F2. Got it setup and stole the wheels off my Rush (I'm building identical wheels for the hardtail). Rode 2 laps at Carter last night and got 10 miles at Alafia this morning. WOW. Now I know why racers all ride hardtails. I kinda knew what to expect with having the SS, but this bike is a rocket! The Rush is no slouch when it comes to pedaling, but a hardtail is so efficient. Unreal. If you haven't tried it I recommend giving it a try.

Congrats on the new bike! Sounds great. Maybe one day I'll get one, Have to settle right now for the greatest full suspension bike on the market and my hardtail steel single speed. Carter road is great to ride on the hardtail. You retain all that (speed) gravity as you go down and up those hills.

Caffiene F2... sweet ride. I very nearly bought the F1 before I found my Rush on Ebay with better equipment for less $$$. But... I still had to have a HT and bought a F600. The Furio frame is super-stiff and really puts the power to the ground. I commute on it though- haven't taken it off-road yet.
