Giant warranty question?
« on: July 26, 2014, 07:05:33 PM »
So my buddy just found out that his trance has a crack in the lower pivot. I looked online and it says the frame has a lifetime warranty to the original owner which he is. Is the lower pivot  considered  part of the frame to be included in the warranty? Thanks for the help.

Also if I'm not identifying the part correctly sorry.

If it is the Maestro link, they are prone to cracking, and Giant will cover it under the warranty. Your friend should take it by his local Giant dealer to have them submit a claim.

a quick phone call to a Giant dealer would answer all questions and take a lot less time, just saying..  8)

yeah did that, not covered, those that got it covered were probably under the year warranty.

I would pitch a fit if I were him, the pivot IS part of the frame, but not the shock... I would call Giant directly.. if it were a wearable part like a bearing or bushing I would say not, but the pivot itself should be covered...

You would think by now they would have fixed all the quality issues involving the linkages.

The 12yr olds making those frames must have taken a cigarette brake when the rear triangles were cooking.

I think he was refering to Having the labor covered outside of a year, of course they will warranty the broken linkage for the term of the warranty.

Its not my fight, but I see it the same way we all see it. If I order a frame from Giant, they don't tell me the pivot cost extra right? They come all together. He brought it to AJs who Ive realized may be good to some customers but not all. His wheel had play within the year and they told him he had to pay for them to rebuild it. They said it was normal wear and tear, however I don't expect wear in under a year no matter how hard you ride. Im sure AJs has more then enough business so one guys business doesn't matter to them and this is just from my own point of view. Ive been with him there a couple of times. oh well  he orders the part on monday.
