New Spider Berm Trail Direction
« on: October 23, 2014, 11:17:21 PM »
I rode Balm-Boyette recently and stopped to scope out the new trail that is being developed on the east side of the lake from Spider Berm.  Should be a cool new addition to the park.  I heard they are switching directions of the old Spider Berm trails and making it one way all the way from Randy's Trail/Upper Loch Ness Meadow connection.

Just my humble opinion, but I think it would be better to keep Spider Berm as it is and make the new trail flow clockwise around the lake off of Lower Spider Berm.  That way intermediate riders can make a loop out of it with Golfcart/Gatorpit or just choose to ride Lower Spider Berm and New trail and come back in.  Advanced Riders can come in from Ridgeline or Abyss and flow East to West to East on Upper Spider Berm, Lower Spider Berm and New Trail.  It just seems to make sense to me to keep the directions on Spider Berm as is and add the new trail clockwise around the lake.  Also maybe a new name to differentiate from the existing trails would help for less confusion and commemorate the new trail building work on the new trail would be awesome.

Any other thoughts from the forum?  Thanks for planning and building a new trail on one of my favorite places to ride.  I hope to join you all one weekend to help out in the process.

Something else to think about - Enter the NEW Spider Berm off of Randy's Trail counter clockwise, flow into Lower Spider Berm counterclockwise (reverse direction of what it is now), whip around and flow into Upper Spider Berm clockwise (reverse of present direction), then add a parallel Golf Cart Trail across from SB exit to Gator Pit, then exit Gator Pit following the rest of Golf Cart.  Or something like that.

Even if everyone pitched in a little on their rides and cleaned up blow down, or carried some hand trimmers in their Camelback for face slappers, or just offer to pick up lunch (SWAMP would reimburse) for the crew so the Trail Boss can focus on more pressing things.
