Trail conditions
« on: July 23, 2015, 06:26:31 PM »
Anybody knows trail conditions recently?, I'm planning on taking the drive over there on Sunday but don't wanna risk it if it gets shut down by rain or anything else caused by weather.

I have not been to the park but work due west of it. We got a ton of rain today, with the weekend forecast to be even wetter. I would probably reschedule.

Im quite sure it is a mess. It will take a while to recover from all this rain. Best to stay off the trails for a bit.

Actually, I did my twice/monthly inspection and trail cleaning ride today at Alafia.  The intermediate trails are in pretty good shape considering the excessive rain we are getting.  Best trail=SandPine.  I cleared much overhead and trail debris.  Some of the drainage points are clogging up with so much silt and need to be cleaned out soon - volunteers?

Remember:  one poor rider who likes to lock up their rear tire...  in wet conditions, that rider causes excessive damage requiring much maintenance to repair.  Please ride without skidding!

Rode Alafia today and it's in great shape just super busy.

We encountered an older guy(late 50's-60's) wearing a Swamp jersey essentially telling people to get the hell out of his way as he plowed through North Creek. We were way off to the side and he still was an impatient jerk with everybody. He stopped further up and we passed him then he flies right up on me and rubbed his front tire on my back tire. It's not a race, it's a public trail so everyone needs to be nice and respectful to all riders.

I am not justifying this guys riding, buy as you said, everyone needs to be respectful to all riders. I have been on NC many times where it seems like there is a group meeting on the trail right at Magic Island, and now Twisted Sister also. Nothing wrong with stopping to take a break, but please do it off the trail, just like you said you did. Many people have a tendency to stop in the middle and block the trail, which prevents access to everyone else trying to use it.

We were at the top by the mini bridge through the palms/rail. We were 10 feet off the trail not at all in anyone's way. This guy was just being a jerk to all riders out there mis-representing Swamp.

North creek and all other trails were in fabulous shape.
