E Bikes! Allowed on the trail
« on: May 05, 2016, 11:02:31 AM »
I brought this up a few day ago on Facebook and the post got heated and was deleted. What is Swamps stand on E bikes? I have been seeing a few E bike on the trail especially Boyette. Are they allowed? If we allow stock E bikes on the trail what is keeping people from modifying them. I have seen E bike capable of 8000 watts, That's 16 times what the average person puts out. If they are not allowed how are we going to police this especially at Boyette.

Thanks E

The problem is that the trails are "no motorized vehicles", but FL law defines bicycles with electric assist, and a max speed of 20mph on level ground, as bicycles, and not motorized vehicles. Put a gas motor on it, it is a motor vehicle. Put a thumb throttle on the electric bike and it is a motor vehicle.

I don't want to see ebikes on the trails, but until someone of authority makes a decision that can be upheld, I think that there is nothing that can be done to prevent it.

Swamp has the authority. If people want trails to ride ebikes on, then let them cut 'em. If you see someone on an ebike, just tell them they aren't allowed and if they don't head to the exit, then report them to the trail boss, who can work with the land manager on issuing a trespass warrant.

Some times you got to fight for your right to Party.
E-Bikes helping some one get out and ride,,I doubt that. No, It will be those Hot Rod boyz doing fitty plus UP HILL.

Relax people, time to man up, take your guts with you and leave your fear at home,,, your Mountain bikers remember ? You WILL hear them coming up on you.
Make sure they don't see you,,not to worry they won't at the speeds they will be running.
Throw your bike right in front of them, they crash and destroy your bike....

Open that can of whup ars,,you know the big gallon size one. then when they are begging for mercy rip the wires out of that E contraption.

,,,,,,,,,,,"STRAVA!!!!!!!" Will be our battle call !
,
,:P

That was fun..

But seriously, I will show no mercy to the first one that runs me off the trail......
