Not everyone likes the wood on trails. The bridges at Alafia are necessary because of all the water.

That land is controlled by the South West Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD). They are strict when it comes to the types of trails that can be constructed. Swamp can only build what they will allow.

Thanks for the information!

Has anyone asked them if they let us build some wood features on a designated area?

Really not much of any natural elevation to make any fun wood features there.

Have you ever been to Amelia MTB park in Miami?  Is flat but with a lot of fun features... very nice...

Those are cool (especially the shipping container) but kind of a necessity to allow them to optimize such a small footprint of land they have to work with.

Late to the thread, but my understanding is that, with SWIFTMUD, every word means no.

No new trails (even though there is plenty of land to build them on.)
No new anything, and we're damned lucky that we're allowed to have what we have.

If you want to make some noise, contact Bruce Kaczmarek, and see what he thinks:  (trails at swampclub dot org)
