Heart Rate
« on: June 13, 2007, 09:22:44 PM »
So what is everyone's resting heartrate here? Have you checked? I've never gotten a true "resting" heart rate. Last time I was at the doc we took a brisk walk down the hall, jumped on the scale, went to the exam room and the nurse took my pulse 4 times because she couldn't believe my HR was a 44. Doc came in, looked at the chart, took my pulse again, shook her head and asked what I did. Thought it was kinda funny.

Wow, that is a big improvement! Have you lost weight in the process?

is that  basically your pulse? 44, SFG, you got one foot in the grave. Have a double espresso!!! My pulse is usually in the mid to upper 50's. I check it on those blood pressure machines in the stores.

I don't drink coffee, ever. They wouldn't let me give blood one time, HR was like a 37. When I was like 17 I was in the hospital for a blood infection and they woke me up thinking I was gonna dies when it dropped into the low 30's. I've always had a low-ish HR. Conversely my BP runs kinda higher than normal,130ish over 80ish. ???

Before I started exercising again in March of '06, my heart rate would skyrocket.  At Flatwoods one morning, I went into "anaerobic shock" I think it's called where I took my heartrate up too fast and then stopped to rest instead of slowing down.  Thought I was having a heart attack, almost puked, sweated like you can't believe for about 15 minutes.  On my elliptical, it would register at 130's-140's during the exercise.  Now, I can't get it to go above 90's doing the same exercise.  I need to adjust the exercise to get it into the "fat-burning" zone somehow, or so I've been told.

Nope, pretty laid back most of the time. Goes with my background I think. I did alot of running a biking as a kid, and 8 years in the Army doesn't tend to let you lay around much. And I've always tended to have a lower HR anyway.
